Cancer Prevention Vitamin - It Is Real and It Is Now!

January 12th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Have we discovered a vitamin? Are vitamins really possible? Is the vitamin here?

New studies show we just might have! Some forms of cancer may be preventable with the use of a vitamin. Hardly any family in the United States has NOT had a family member die because of cancer. This could change with the addition of this vitamin to our daily diets.

There are two studies that have been conducted using very sophisticated analysis which revealed that we are close to having a vitamin. Almost half of the cases of and almost two thirds of , in the United States, have been helped with what appears to be the vitamin, Vitamin D, (25-hydroxyvitamin D). T

he data from the study showed individuals with the highest blood levels of 25(OH)D HAD the lowest risk factors for cancer. Wouldn’t it be great if we could prevent most breast cancers? The researchers for this vitamin divided the data from two studies into five equal groups from the lowest blood levels of 25(H)D to the highest level of 25(OH)D. The data showing whether or not the individuals developed cancer was also included with these studies. This is strong evidence that we are closer to developing a vitamin for .

The vitamin data from the colorectal study was an analysis of five studies relating to 25(OH)D with risk of . All these studies involved subjects with a risk of and explored the association of blood levels of 25(OH)D. The levels were then checked 25 years later for the development of .

According to one of the doctors involved in the study of the vitamin stated, “We project a two-thirds reduction in incidence with serum levels … which corresponds to a daily intake of 2,000 IU of vitamin D3. This would be best achieved with a combination of diet, supplements and 10 to 15 minutes per day in the sun.”

We have several sources of vitamin D3 (possibly THE vitamin) in our daily routine. We get vitamin D3 through exposure of the skin to sunlight, or ultraviolet B, our diet, and with nutritional supplements. (It is important to note here that the researchers underscored the importance of limiting sun exposure such that the skin does not change color (tan) or burn.) If you are sensitivity to sunlight, or you or a personal or family has a history of nonmelanoma , any amount of extra sun exposure would be inadvisable. Therefore a vitamin may be taken in higher dose for those how have this sensitivity. That vitamin is easily available in some vitamin supplements.

Analysis of the study had shown that in 2006 that a low dose of vitamin D ( vitamin) didn’t protect against within seven years of follow-up. However, the researchers wrote, the analysis did show that a higher dose (of vitamin) may reduce its incidence.

Learning About Cancer Diagnosis

January 12th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

After the symptoms are clarified and cancer is detected, many tests and dignosis are done to ascertain the level of spread and the stage. This will be detremental to the method of treatment to prevent its spread. The treatment starts with the general check up and then on the advise of the medical practitioner, you will have to undergo tests ranging from blood tests to surgery.

Tests conducted on the blood and urine samples may be able to give etails on the condition of the patient. In luekemia blood tests define the extent of spread of the diesase by reporting the low platelet counts and low red blood corposilsa and white blood corposils .Marker levels of the tumors may vary on the extent of growth of varying cancers. These laboratry tests are the beginning of investigations of cancer.

The next step is pinpointing the location and size of the current tumor. Various technological advancements have given the advantage to view the body from inside thrugh differnt machines.
Now, before starting treatments, doctors are aware of everything about the tumor- size, location which makes tratment much easier than before.During the process of eliminating the cancer cells the healthy cells are not destroyed.faster and accurate technology is availed by cancer patients so their recovery is less painful and easier.there are various ways of imaging available in today’s hospitals that help the doctor to treat you better.

X rays used to be the most common vay of seeing the bones and growths on them. However, typical xrays are outdated now. They have been replaced by CT scans, MRIs , radionuclide scanning , Ultrasonography.Xray’s have been computerised and called CT scans.MRI or Magnetic resonence imaging seems o be the most popular way of scanning. Magnetic rays encapsule the body ,read by the connected computer to take a series of pictures of the detailed area.It shows intricate detailing of the cancerous cells and other healthy tissues.

In the radionuclide scanning the patient either swallows a radioactive dye or is injected with it depending on the area to be scanned. The connected scanner computerised machine, measures the level of radioactivity in different organs. The growth or tumor areas are highlighted, making detection easier. After the test is over, radioactive substances are absolved by the body.

Ultrasonography is also simple and effective ways to view inside the body without any invasive technique. High frequency sound waves hit the body and bounce back to give an image of the inside organs. The bounced back sound waves produce an echo that forms the picture of the normal and cancerous growth. These entire computer aided scan are viewed on the screen and later printed on the paper for making reports.

Looking at the scan, ascertain the exact position of the tumor growth and then a biopsy is conducted. The removal of tissue samples from the patient’s body to be sent for laboratory testing for cancer by an oncological pathologist is known as Biopsy.

Biopsy is generally conducted through Endoscopy, fine needle test and surgical removal of tissue sample. Endoscopy is when a small camera attached through the tube is put in the body for taking pictures, removal of sample tissue for testing. The fine needle test is done by inserting a long needle into the growth area for sample tests. The surgical biopsy is done when the whole tumor is removed and sent for testing or a portion of the tumor is removed to be sent for biopsy.

After doing these tests, the oncologist is able to make out the extent of spread of cancer in the body. They can also make out whether the cancer is in the beginning stage or advanced. These diagnostic kits have been of a great help to prevent many more deaths by cancer. Early detection of all cancers is the first step to its cure.

Prostate Cancer Symptoms - What To Look For

January 12th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

About eighty percent of men who reach the age of 80 have . If you have , are concerned about getting it or if you’re looking out for the health of someone you love, this article may help. Many men with , especially those later in life, have made the decision with their doctors to simply watch and wait.

Like other cancers, the cause of is unknown; it appears to be more common in African American men and men with a family history of the disease. In most men, grows very slowly; most men will never know they have it. Early is confined to the prostate gland itself; most of the patients with this type of cancer can live for years without experiencing any problems.

Some men, who haven’t been diagnosed, will experience symptoms that might indicate the presence of . One common symptom is difficulty starting urination or holding back urine. Blood in the urine or semen and frequent pain or stiffness in the lower back, hips, or upper thighs also can be symptoms of cancer.

Just having one or more cancer symptoms does not necessarily mean that you have . If you have one or more symptoms, you should see a qualified doctor as soon as possible. One of the most common symptoms is the inability to urinate, get checked right away.

The decision about whether to pursue a PSA test should be based on a discussion with your doctor. What is called a free PSA, helps tell the difference between BPH (benign prostatic hypertrophy), an enlargement of the prostate gland, and . Another test usually used when symptoms are present is a digital rectal exam (DRE) performed by your doctor, proctologist or oncologist.

Urine or prostatic fluid cytology may reveal unusual looking cells. Also keep in mind that experts report that PSA tests are not reliable and they are looking for better ways to diagnose . Sometimes a chest x-ray may be done to see if there’s a spread of cancer.

Conventional treatment of is often controversial. If is decided upon after the first round of is given, most men receive further doses on an outpatient basis at a clinic or physician’s office. And in patients whose health makes the risk of surgery unacceptably high, radiation therapy is often the chosen conventional alternative.

An oncologist, a cancer specialist, will usually recommend getting treated with a single drug or a combination of drugs. What you can do is begin to understand what exactly your treatment options are and where you’re going to start. Surgery, a radical prostatectomy, removes the entire prostate gland and some of the surrounding tissues.

Whether radiation is as good as removing the prostate gland is still debatable and the decision about which to choose, if any, can be difficult. The side effects of drugs depend on which ones you’re taking and how often and how long they’re taken. Surgery, radiation, hormonal therapy and all have significant side effects; know fully what they are before you go ahead.

Since prostate tumors require the presence of testosterone to grow, reducing the testosterone level is used to prevent further growth and spread of the cancer. Besides hormonal drugs, hormone manipulation may be done by surgically removing the testes. A new therapy is on the forefront that recruits the body’s own immune cells to destroy tumors that could become a new way to treat men with advanced - if the FDA approves the highly individualized treatment.

Studies done on antioxidant vitamins question their value when not contained in food; it is clearly better to consume these antioxidants in living foods because they may also need to work with other nutrients present in the food to work properly. Eat at least one, preferably two, organic apples with the peel on every day. Make smoothies with fruit only, using a base of two bananas, adding a cup of frozen or fresh blueberries and mango chunks or substitute any other fruit and add an energy boost of one or two tablespoons of coconut oil; add one or two leaves of lacinato kale for another highly nutritional boost.

If possible eliminate all hormone-containing, inflammatory foods like meat and dairy from your diet. Buy lacinato kale and juice it in your juicer with some sweet carrots. Add a small handful of kale or spinach to your fruit smoothie and blend well; know one will ever know.

Eat foods that contain the important essential fatty acids. Supplements that help any disease or ailment include vitamin B12 — the sublingual methylcobalamin type not cyanocobalamin. It dissolves slowly under the tongue. And vitamin D3 - especially if you can’t get a daily dose of 15 to 20 minutes of sun on your arms and or legs so you can make your own vitamin D3 naturally. Making a ginger tea, by adding a thin slice or two of fresh peeled gingerroot to hot water, is helpful to many people I know.

It’s important to get as informed as possible and read all the newest books, ebooks and information available both online and offline. If you haven’t been diagnosed but are concerned about symptoms you’re having you should call for an appointment to see your doctor; and if you’re a man older than 50 who has never been screened for (by rectal exam and/or PSA level determination) or not had a regular annual exam, or have had a family history of , then make an appointment soon. Most all men with survive for at least five years after their diagnosis, 93% survive at least 10 years, and 67% survive more than 15 years.
