Important Prostate Cancer Facts That Every Man Should Be Made Aware Of For Their Health

April 22nd, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Only men have a prostate, and it’s a small gland located under the bladder. It’s shaped something like a doughnut, so that it can fit around the urethra. This is the tube that carries urine from the bladder. Basically, the prostate’s job is to produce fluid, which is mixed with sperm when the man ejaculates.

Recently, has received the dubious honor of being the most common male cancer in western society. Prostate cancer is usually a very slow growing form of tumor, and often don’t require treatment. This is different to other forms of cancer that can grow quickly and spread to other areas, such as the bones, causing severe pain.

One of the most common symptoms of is an inability to urinate, or even just some difficulty in passing urine. This is often more noticeable at night. The flow of urine may also be weak or interrupted, and there may perhaps be traces of blood present. Other sufferers also experience some discomfort or pain in the lower back, hips and upper thighs.

While these symptoms often signify the presence of , they can also be cause by other conditions as well, many of which are much less serious. Still, if you notice any of these symptoms developing, it’s always wise to consult your doctor for further diagnosis.

Research has yet to determine what causes , although a small proportion of cases have been directly attributed to high-level radiation exposure. Genetics do appear to play a part, with the disease often present in more than one male of the family over a number of generations. So if you have a family history of , regular checks become more important. It’s unusual for men to develop under the age of 50, but after that the risk increases dramatically, with nearly half of cases occurring in men 75 years and older.

Although not proven completely, there is some data that suggests a high fat diet increase the risk of , while eating a diet high in Vitamin E, tomatoes and cruciform vegetables (cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli and Brussels sprouts) can help to lower the risk. Even if better eating patterns don’t directly result in a reduced risk of , it’s still better for your general health, so is a good thing to do anyway

One popular misconception is that having a vasectomy increases the risk of , but at this stage, all the research suggests that it makes no difference. There’s no known way of preventing , although some studies have indicated that taking 200 micrograms of every day may reduce your risk of developing the cancer.

Like many cancers, the key to successful treatment is early diagnosis. The more advanced the cancer, the harder it is to cure. All men over the age of 50 need to be able to recognize the symptoms of , and seek medical advice if any symptoms are noticed. A number of different tests are used to diagnose , including:

- Rectal Examination - the size of the prostate gland is examined with a gloved finger inserted into the rectum

- Ultrasound - the size of the prostate is determined using a small probe inserted into the rectum

- PSA Blood Test - generally results in a marked increase in the level of Prostate Specific Antigen

- Biopsy - a tissue sample is taken from the prostate using a needle inserted via the rectum

- X-ray - an x-ray can determine if there is cancer present elsewhere, such as in the bones

Cancer: Complacency is an Invitation for the Cancer to Return

April 22nd, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

WC was 58 years old when he was diagnosed with rectum cancer. He underwent a surgery on 26 December 1995. It was a Duke’s Stage C. Subsequently, WC underwent radiotherapy and . Barely a year later, in October 1996, WC suffered a relapse and this time a growth was found in his pelvis. On 15 October 1996, WC underwent another operation. He declined further medical treatments.

WC came to see us on 9 May 1997 and was started on herbs and he was advised to change his diet. He improved. We were very happy to see him alive and well. He took herbs very regularly. He was one of our super star patients.

Almost SEVEN YEARS after we first saw him, i.e., 14 March 2003, WC’s wife came with a panic look on her face. She told us that since the past few months, WC had been eating “bad food” — the various hawker foods that we advised against eating. As a result of this, two to three months later WC’s health started to deteriorate. His legs swelled. He had severe back pains. He died soon afterwards.

This story showed us two important points. One, the need for aggressive treatments like radiotherapy and may not be necessary. With herbs and a change of diet and lifestyle patients can survive their cancer and do well.

Two, complacency invites cancer back again. No matter how hard we work or how long we spend time explaining, some patients just do not seem to understand. We used to say this: “When you are dying or have problems, you will not hesitate to follow our advice. But the moment you become well, you forget all those advices. You go back to your old ways again because you think you are already well.”
Unfortunately, such attitude reflects total ignorance (or stubbornness?). Make no mistake, cancer does not go away and no one seems to be able to cure it (unless you accept the medical definition of cure as surviving for five years or more). So, we must always be on our guard. Once we feel well, let us continue to perpetuate that wellness so that we can continue to live a normal and meaningful life. Unfortunately, to some people meaningful life means going about their old lifestyle and eat whatever they like! One lady even said us this: “Your herbs help to clean me. So, I can go ahead and eat what I like. Why worry?”

We have seen this going-back-to-the-previous-lifestyle happens over and over again with many patients. When they feel well and alright they stop caring for themselves. They stop taking the herbs and revert to their old lifestyle and diet. Generally within two to three months, they will suffer a relapse.

We believe that there is no permanent cure for cancer and there is no one on earth who could cure you too. It is you and only you who have the power to cure yourself. So, your life is in your hands. The choice is yours!

So, our message to all cancer patients is: Do not be complacent. The dictionary defines complacency as “a feeling of contentment or self-satisfaction, especially when coupled with an unawareness of danger, trouble, or controversy.” That is right. If you are not careful you will have to pay dearly for your complacency. Plainly said you may die because of your complacency as shown by the above story.

Modifying Cells to Fight Skin Cancer?

April 22nd, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Some scientists are making headway in the fight against in Germany where they modified blood cells to use to attack tumor cells and wiped out the cancer in two male patients with advanced . Come again you did what? That is what they are saying, could it be true? Well, no one knows for sure yet, but if they figure out a way to make it work in all patients this could be a massive break thru indeed. Could this be the break thru that gene therapists have been longing for to fight cancer? Maybe some say.

Nevertheless this is good news, unfortunately there were 15 patients and only two were cured, but the two who were cured were Totally cured, completely as in 100% cured. Wow. Perhaps they will figure out why it works how it works and it what ratio it works so they can help everyone with advanced Melanoma?

If they can perfect this it might be used to fight advanced , and other common cancers, which put patients in terminal situations? Of course this also has application in life longevity efforts and other diseases like heart disease too. Melanoma does kill almost 10,000 people a year in the United States so this is a wonderful break thru and scientists are working to figure it all out. Consider this in 2006.

How To File A Mesothelioma Claim

April 22nd, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

If you have been diagnosed with asbestos cancer and you are considering filing a claim, you should learn all you can about the subject and what kind of settlement or compensation you could receive. You should work with an experienced attorney to strengthen your claim before filing a law suit.

Statute of Limitations and Deadlines for Filing Your Claim

The statute of limitations starts at the time of your diagnosis in just about all claims. When a judge or the jury looks at your particular case, they will make a note of the time involved in your decision to file a claim. Once you have been diagnosed with cancer you should get in touch with a trial lawyer as soon as possible to get the process started. You may be going through a very difficult time in your life, but it’s important to let all parties involved know about who is responsible for your disease and that you are serious about taking action.

Nailing Down the Details

Because of the long latency period of asbestos cancer, you may have a hard time remembering what happened decades ago. Make sure you know exactly what happened when, where and why before you determine who is responsible for your exposure to asbestos. Try to nail down all relevant details such as your place and length of employment, job conditions, products and materials you worked with, etc. Check all your records related to your former work; old photos may provide evidence in court such as asbestos dust on your work clothes.

Take notes of everything you remember. The trial lawyer you choose to handle your case needs all the details you can gather to back up your case in court with hard facts. Don’t assume that minor details are irrelevant and review all the information you have gathered with your attorney. His experience gained from working with previous clients may help to find crucial details in the information you provide.

Your claim should include compensation for all of your losses – medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of income and a shortened life expectancy – at the very least. Remember that in most cancer settlements and court cases the claimant gets far less than asked for, so file a claim for all of your losses from the start.
